Mortar and pestle
A typical mortar and pestleA mortar and pestle are used for hand grinding. A mortar is a small ceramic or rock bowl used to contain the substance being ground and a pestle is a cylinder made of either rock or ceramic that has the ends tapered so that it can be used for crushing. Never grind friction or shock sensitive compositions or accidental ignition may occur
